Automatic level of detail

Large scans build a level-of-detail pyramid on first import and stay responsive at any size. Recorded on a single consumer GPU, a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16 GB. The scene holds about a hundred buildings at roughly six million splats each — around 600 million splats in total. Workstation GPUs with more memory take considerably larger scenes.

Native Rhino workflow

Splats are Rhino block instances. They follow the tools you already use — layers, hide and isolate, undo — and you can use them with Grasshopper.

Splat and model in one scene

Splats and Rhino geometry share one scene. Rhino solids occlude splats; transparent objects tint them. The cursor snaps to splat centres, so you measure directly on the scan. It draws in every viewport, in screen captures and prints too.

Correct occlusion

Cut, crop & clip

Trim scans with cut and crop volumes, or with Rhino's native clipping planes. Trimming is pixel-perfect — every splat is clipped exactly as expected.

Crop with a volume

Splat editing

Clean scans inside Rhino — stray splats, passers-by, capture noise. Two display modes while editing: rings outline every splat, centres mark each one as a point. Deletions are non-destructive, undoable, survive save and reopen, and can be restored at any time.

Experimental: relightable splats Experimental

Sunlight on scans. Splats shadow themselves and exchange shadows with Rhino geometry. Off by default, may change between releases. KrillExperimental unlocks it; KrillToggleRelight turns it on.

Relightable splats

Built for Rhino.

Krill draws splats with its own renderer, native code written for the Rhino viewport. No external renderer, no platform, no subscription.

Runs locally.

No uploads. No tracking.
Your models and splats stay on your machine.
